Texas A&M is hosting a three-day grand reopening celebration weekend starting Sept. 11 in College Station.
The university is calling it “the world’s largest tailgate,” as fans will pack into the newly renovated Kyle Field Saturday for its game against Ball State.
“To the rest of the world, Kyle Field projects a message not just about football, but about the overall excellence of our great university. Kyle Field is ‘home’ to generations of Aggies and to the Spirit of Aggieland, and it always will be,” System Chancellor John Sharp said.
The university lined up fireworks, country singer Pat Green and rock band Relient K for the event. The music will start Saturday at noon on the Simpson Drill Field. The Aggies will also rededicate the statue of the late John David Crow at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, which will kick off the weekend’s festivities.
Kyle Field will reopen Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with free tours of the stadium’s west side.
I’m sure the Aggies’ offense plans on shooting off their own fireworks against Ball State Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
