Tennessee’s 2018-19 outlook got a whole lot better this week.
After star forward Admiral Schofield announced his intentions to hold off on the NBA Draft and return to Rocky Top, the Vols got another big-time addition.
Four-star 2018 recruit D.J. Burns announced that he’s heading to Tennessee. The 6-9, 248-pound center turned down the likes of in-state South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Virginia for the Vols.
The No. 103 recruit in the 2018 class is set to become the Vols’ highest-ranked recruit of the Rick Barnes era.
Burns will join what’s already a loaded Tennessee squad. The Vols return the likes of Schofield, SEC Player of the Year Grant Williams, SEC Co-Sixth Man of the Year Lamonte Turner, as well as starters Jordan Bone, Jordan Bowen and Kyle Alexander.
Tennessee appears to be in good shape to start the 2018-19 season as a potential preseason top-5 team after last year’s surprise run to a regular-season share of the SEC title.
