Tennessee basketball becomes last remaining undefeated team in Division I
Tennessee basketball is the last undefeated team in all of Division I.
The Vols, who won Saturday in their SEC opener against Arkansas, outlasted all 363 other Division I teams en route to a 14-0 start. Oklahoma and Florida were previously undefeated before sustaining losses on Saturday.
Per the SEC Network, it’s the first time Tennessee has been the last remaining unbeaten men’s basketball team since 1915-16.
Tennessee’s season so far includes wins over Louisville, Baylor, Illinois and Arkansas, to name a few teams. The Vols are currently 3-0 against Quad 1 opposition this season.
Chaz Lanier has been the driving force of Tennessee’s offense in 2024-25 as he’s making nearly 47% of his 3-point tries on the season and is averaging north of 20 points per contest.
However, it’s once again the defensive side of the ball where Rick Barnes’ team hangs their hat. Tennessee ranks No. 1 nationally in defensive efficiency, according to KenPom. The Vols are a respectable 20th in offensive efficiency.
Tennessee’s SEC gauntlet will continue on Tuesday when the Vols go on the road to face Florida.
