Tennessee did a number on Montana on Wednesday night in Knoxville, as the 11th-ranked Volunteers won 92-57 to improve to 3-0 on the young season.

But the result of the game was rather meaningless compared to what Tennessee fans did for Montana sophomore guard Money Williams, who lost his mother and father in the last year. The deaths of both of his parents have left Williams and his sister, Mo’Ney, responsible for their 3 younger siblings.

In a show of generosity and class, Volunteers fans helped raise a whole lot of money for Williams in the days since the game. The GoFundMe that was set up to benefit the entire Williams family had raised a little over $73,000 as of Thursday morning, only hours after the Tennessee-Montana game ended. By Saturday night, it was over $127,000 with a goal of getting to $150,000.

“I’m reaching out during an unimaginably difficult time for my family,” Williams wrote in the GoFundMe post.

The money raised, according to Williams, is for funeral expenses, immediate needs for the family, ensuring stability moving forward and supporting educational expenses for all of his siblings.

For what it’s worth, Williams was terrific on the court for Montana in the losing cause, scoring a game-high 30 points. Williams finished 8-of-15 from the floor, was 4-of-7 from 3-point territory and was 10-of-13 from the foul line to get to that 30-point total.
