Tennessee is trying to make a big move on the recruiting trail.
Tennessee is heading into the 2025 season looking to build off last year’s performance that saw the Volunteers make it to the College Football Playoff. This was the first appearance in the program’s history, and it showed that Josh Heupel has the program on the right track.
That momentum is also carrying to the recruiting trail, as the Volunteers are making a push to flip Alabama commit and 4-star athlete Alexander Ward. That’s according to a report from Rivals’ John Garcia Jr.:
Ward is currently ranked the No. 211 player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, while being the No. 9 player in the class for 2027.
Ward has been committed to Alabama since Nov. 26 of last year, and is one of only two commits in the 2027 class along with EDGE Jabarrius Garror.
In the 2027 class, Tennessee has only one commit in linebacker JP Peace, who plays his high school football in Knoxville. The fact that Tennessee is back competing with the Alabama’s for the top prospects shows that Heupel is doing a great job, and another big year in 2025 could help take them to another level in recruiting.
