Tennessee dipped into Florida to snag a commitment from Class of 2027 cornerback Kamauri Whitfield on Wednesday, as the Orlando native became the second member of the Volunteers’ junior class.
Rated a 3-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite, Whitfield chose UT over offers from the likes of Florida, Florida State, Miami, Oklahoma, Auburn, and Nebraska.
He was in attendance for an unofficial visit at the Vols’ 34-31 win over Arkansas on Saturday, with the program having extended an offer back in mid June when he attended a team camp.
Whitfield also shared a message on social media alongside the announcement:
“From the work nobody saw to the moment everybody will – Tennessee, let’s work.”
UT secondary coach Willie Martinez was the primary recruiter in Whittingham’s commitment, and he and the rest of the staff must have made a strong impression on their new commit last weekend.
Taylor Green and the Razorbacks did complete 68% of their passes for 256 passing yards in the loss, and the Volunteers defense as a whole has taken a drastic step back in 2025.
Whitfield joins 3-star linebacker JP Peace (Knoxville West High School) in making up Tennessee‘s 2027 recruiting class. Josh Heupel & Co. also currently claim the 8th-ranked recruiting class for 2026.
