Tennessee is having a special year on the baseball diamond, and that continued on Sunday in Gainesville.

Despite not having coach Tony Vitello for the first 2 games due to a suspension and despite going into 11 innings after a slow start offensively on Sunday, the Vols completed a historic sweep in Gainesville. The Vols became the first SEC team to sweep Florida in Gainesville in 16 years.

And, it wasn’t easy. In fact, the Vols needed some heroics in the form of an over-the-wall catch to seal Sunday’s victory in the 11th inning:

Tennessee sealed the 6-4 win to improve to 37-3 on the season and 17-1 in SEC play. The Vols are firing on all cylinders right now.

Next up, the Vols host Xavier in Knoxville on Tuesday night. We’ll see if win No. 38 is on the horizon.
