Tennessee’s hot streak on the 2018 recruiting trail took a bit of a hit Monday as defensive back Jaylon Reed announced his decision to decommit from the Volunteers latest recruiting class. He originally committed to Tennessee’s 2018 class on April 27.

Following Reed’s decommitment, Tennessee is down to 11 total 2018 commitments. The Vols class still ranks No. 10 in the nation and No. 2 in the SEC. The Vols now have only one true defensive back committed for 2018, although that pledge comes from elite safety Brendon Harris.

Reed, a native of Olive Branch, Miss. — just outside the Tennessee border, released the following statement announcing the news:

Reed currently holds offers from Ole Miss, Georgia, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Memphis among others. 247Sports rates Reed as a three-star prospect and the No. 85 cornerback in the nation for the 2018 recruiting cycle.
