Texas A&M picked up a commitment from a major prospect in the class of 2026 on Saturday afternoon.

The Aggies landed a verbal pledge from 4-star tight end Caleb Tafua. The California native also had offers from programs such as Alabama, LSU, Georgia and plenty more top programs. Tafua’s top 4 included Washington, USC and Cal.

Although Tafua will not be able to officially sign with the Aggies for another year or so, this is still a big-time recruiting win for Mike Elko and this Texas A&M staff.

Tafua is currently regarded as the No. 241 overall player and the No. 11 tight end in the country for the class of 2026, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 27 player from the state of California.

Tafua attends Lakewood High School in Lakewood, California. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds. He initially received an offer from Texas A&M back in May of this year.

Texas A&M is off to an extremely strong start in the class of 2026. The Aggies already have 8 commitments in this class. The group currently sits at No. 2 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Here are some highlights from Tafua’s junior season:
