Texas A&M freshman Baylor Cupp, No. 1 TE of 2019 class, out indefinitely with serious injury

Star freshman Baylor Cupp will have to wait to make his college football debut. Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher told reporters on Tuesday that Cupp is out for “a while” after he suffered a broken left ankle in the Aggies’ Monday night scrimmage.
“He had a plate put on his ankle, tibia, on the lower part of his leg,” Fisher told reporters. “He’ll be out for a while. Just got rolled up on. That was the only major injury we had in the scrimmage.”
“Baylor was playing really good football. He was actually having a really good scrimmage, doing a really nice job. We hate to see that, but he’ll get healed up and get back. He’s still going to be one heck of a player and he was having a heck of a camp,” Fisher added.
The freshman out of Brock, Texas was the No. 1 tight end recruit in the class of 2019 on the 247Sports Composite. In addition to Texas A&M had 21 other scholarship offers, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Missouri and Ole Miss.
Cupp had been in the mix to take over the starting tight end spot with standout Jace Sternberger having left early for the NFL Draft.
