Texas A&M is looking to take advantage of the chance to flip a major recruit that’s currently committed to LSU.

Lamar Brown, a defensive lineman in the class of 2026, has been pledged to the Tigers since July 20. Of course, that commitment is now in flux after Brian Kelly’s firing on Sunday. Brown responded to the news with a post on X, calling Kelly “the first coach to believe in me.”

Now, Texas A&M hopes to make its move and land Brown for its No. 5 recruiting class. According to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett, the Aggies, along with Miami, “are pushing hard” to flip Brown from the Tigers.

Brown is arguably the class of 2026’s most celebrated recruit. According to 247Sports’ Composite, the DL is the No. 1 player in the country.

The Baton Rouge, La. product currently boasts 33 offers apart from A&M, Miami, and LSU, including a number of SEC programs. Over the summer, he took official visits to A&M, Miami, and LSU, as well as Texas.

While the Tigers haven’t seen any players de-commit from the program after Kelly’s firing, it’s likely a matter of time before it happens. Brown’s decision could signal other pledges to re-open their recruitment.
