Texas A&M is losing a former big-time recruit to the transfer portal, according to a report.

Former 5-star defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy is heading to the portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Dindy was one of the crown jewels of Texas A&M’s legendary 2022 recruiting class. He was the No. 17 overall player and the No. 5 defensive lineman in the country for that cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Texas A&M beat out Oklahoma for his signature in what was a hotly-contested recruitment.

However, in 3 years in College Station, he’s yet to make much of an impact. He’s been credited with 4 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks during his time with the Aggies. He played just 16 snaps for Texas A&M this past season, according to Pro Football Focus.

Most of the top players from A&M’s No. 1-ranked 2022 recruiting class have since moved on. Walter Nolen and Evan Stewart both departed prior to the start of the Mike Elko era, along with a few of the other 5-star prospects in that class.

Texas A&M went 8-4 in 2024 in its first season under Elko.
