Texas A&M’s 2024 season isn’t over yet, as the Aggies are heading to Omaha for the College World Series. On Tuesday, though, Jim Schlossnagle’s club got some big news for 2025.
Back in September 2023, Wyatt Henseler took to social media to announce his plans to play at Texas A&M. Henseler’s commitment was a bit of an atypical transfer announcement. In 2023, he was reserving a spot on the 2025 roster, noting he would transfer for his grad year after his senior season (2024).
Henseler made his transfer commitment after a 2023 season in which he hit .321 with 18 home runs and 63 RBIs. He had another standout season in 2024, going .360 at the plate with 22 home runs and 56 RBIs to earn Ivy League Player of the Year.
Prospects who elect to play college ball out of high school are draft eligible after 3 seasons. Henseler has now played 4 seasons, making him 2024 draft eligible.
On Tuesday, Henseler confirmed that he plans to be an Aggie in 2025, announcing that he has withdrawn from the 2024 MLB Draft.
After a lot of conversations with my family, I’ve decided to opt out of draft consideration and head to College Station. Excited to start my next chapter in Aggieland! Gig ‘em @AggieBaseball

A third baseman measuring 6-1, 215 pounds, Henseler’s college career began in 2021. Penn’s 2021 season was limited to just 14 games due to the Ivy League’s COVID policy. Even as a freshman, Henseler led the team in batting average (.365), RBI (17), slugging percentage (.538), OBP (.452), doubles (7) and extra-base hits (8).
As a sophomore, Henseler led the Ivy League in runs (57), home runs (14), RBI (53), slugging percentage (.697), on-base percentage (.487) and total bases (131). He earned first-team All-Conference Honors and third-team All-America.
In 2023, Henseler set single-season program records for home runs (18), RBI (63), and total bases (142), while pasing career program marks in home runs (32) and RBI (133).
In the 2024 regular season, Henseler led the Ivy League in home runs (19), runs (54), slugging percentage (.784), and total bases (131). He made All-Ivy for the third consecutive season. In Ivy League play, Henseler led the conference in batting average (.438), OPS (1.479), runs (31), home runs (10), total bases (73), slugging (.913), and on-base percentage (.566).
