Texas’ drubbing of Oklahoma on Saturday, 49-0, was as ugly as can be, and historic in so many ways for the Sooners.
It’s the largest margin of victory in school history and the first time the Sooners have been shutout in 311 games. The Longhorns haven’t accomplished that since 1965, as it’s the worst shutout loss for the Sooners ever.
Coming into Saturday, the Sooners had won 3 straight in the regular-season series and 4 straight overall against the Longhorns. Oklahoma won 55-48 last year as they rallied from a 28-7 deficit, and 53-45 in overtime the year before.
It’s also the first time in Oklahoma history it has lost 2 straight games by at least 30 points.
The Sooners couldn’t get anything going in the passing game, and they registered just 39 yards, along with being 3-for-15 on third down. Meanwhile, the Longhorns churned 585 total yards to improve to 4-2, while Oklahoma fell to 3-3.
It’s final in Dallas — Texas beats Oklahoma 49-0, the largest margin of victory in school history and the first time the Sooners have been shutout in 311 games. Longhorns haven’t accomplished that since 1965. Worst shutout loss for OU ever.
