Texas lands commitment from top safety in transfer portal

Andrew Mukuba is heading back to Austin. After 3 seasons at Clemson, the former LBJ standout will finish his college career at Texas.
Mukuba took to social media to announce his commitment to play for Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorns.

Mukuba played in 35 games for the Tigers over the past 3 seasons. He was ranked the No. 1 safety and No. 14 player overall in the transfer portal by 247Sports.
Mukuba’s Clemson career got off to a strong start in 2021. Mukuba was recognized as a Freshman All-American by the Maxwell Football Club, FWAA and numerous publications for his stellar debut season. The ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year, Mukuba recorded 47 tackles (2 for loss), a sack, 7 pass breakups and 1 fumble recovery in his first 13 games, making 10 starts for Dabo Swinney’s squad.
Mukuba maintained a starting role in 2022. As Clemson won an ACC championship and reached a New Year’s Six bowl, Mukuba posted a career-high 54 total tackles. He also logged 4 passes defended, including his first-career interception.
This past season, Mukuba was a starter in all 10 appearances. He capped his Clemson career by adding 42 total tackles, including 2 for loss, and 6 pass breakups.
