Texas and Oklahoma have gotten off to a wild start in the latest edition of the Red River Rivalry. The Longhorns have tied the game at 7 after Kitan Crawford blocked a Josh Plaster punt in the Sooners’ end zone and had it recovered by true freshman Malik Muhammad for a score.
Just 2 plays in, Longhorns quarterback Quinn Evers was picked off by the Sooners’ Gentry Williams near the Texas 22, which Oklahoma turned into a touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead.
On the Longhorns’ next drive, they converted 2 4th downs: one from their own 32 on a fake punt on 4th-and-5 and a 4th-and-1 from the Sooners’ 39. But Ewers tossed another interception to give it back to Oklahoma.
The Sooners, unable to move the ball, found themselves pinned near their own end zone and forced to punt, setting up the Longhorns punt block and touchdown:

It’s a game that sees both teams not only ranked, but undefeated and looking to gain an edge atop the Big 12 standings. There’s plenty on the line in this edition of the long-standing rivalry.
