Texas is set to join the SEC by 2025 at the latest, but as the Longhorns transition to a new conference, long-time SEC fans will wonder if the Longhorns are bona fide fans and student supporters.
Leave it to a Texas history professor to vouch for the Longhorns, and he used a student’s email as evidence. The student told him that he wouldn’t attend class on Tuesday or Thursday because of the game this weekend when the Longhorns travel to Texas Tech.
“Don’t tell me Texas is a bad fit for the SEC,” Leonard N. Moore shared on social media. “I appreciate this honesty.”
Texas on the field certainly has turned heads with its narrow loss to Alabama, and the Longhorns are currently ranked No. 22 in the country.

Of course, the true test won’t come until the Longhorns are officially in the SEC, and fans from other programs can evaluate the tailgating, bar and restaurant scene and other traditional metrics for determining how well a campus and its city contributes to the league.
