Texas Tech lineman John Scott III shot, hospitalized

Very unfortunate news to share out of Lubbock as freshman defensive lineman John Scott III has been shot. The incident occurred over the weekend.

According to Texas Tech, Scott remains hospitalized following the incident. KCBD 11 of Lubbock is reporting that Scott was shot by 24-year-old Asia Devine Jackson following a fight at a pool, which was located at an apartment complex. Jackson has turned himself in and is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the incident.

Scott had to have surgery after being shot, which upgraded his condition following the incident.

Texas Tech released the following statement following the news:

“Texas Tech Athletics was made aware of an unfortunate incident this afternoon involving Red Raider redshirt freshman defensive lineman John Scott III, who remains hospitalized at University Medical Center (UMC) at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”
