Comedian Theo Von got in a subtle dig at former Alabama coach Nick Saban on Saturday’s edition of College GameDay.

Despite his ties to Vanderbilt, Von was chosen as the guest picker for Saturday’s show in Tuscaloosa. As he was making his pick for the game of the day, Von brought up Alabama’s loss to Nashville from last season.

He noted it was Kalen DeBoer‘s first year on the job and said that should absolve him from of the blame. Instead, Von indicated that blame should rest at the feet of the previous coach.

“Kalen DeBoer lost to Vanderbilt last year, but he didn’t have his players,” Von said, sitting just to Saban’s left. “He had the previous coach’s players. So this is his first time getting a real run with his guys in there.”

Von, unsurprisingly, picked Vanderbilt to pull off another upset. He was the only panelist to pick the Commodores this week.

Here’s a full clip of Von’s pick:

Vanderbilt is looking to make history on Saturday. The Commodores have not won in Tuscaloosa since 1984. They also have not won back-to-back games over Alabama since 1955-56 — a few years before the start of the Bear Bryant era in Tuscaloosa.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
