Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. are deep into their preparations for the 2022 NFL Draft over at ESPN.
One intriguing player who will likely be a Day 2 pick this year is Kentucky WR Wan’Dale Robinson, who became a star in his 1 year with the Wildcats.
On Kiper and McShay’s “First Draft” show, McShay said Robinson reminds him of another former SEC star — South Carolina’s Deebo Samuel, who is now a huge part of the San Francisco 49ers’ offense:
“Some guys have that lateral shiftiness, and then some guys had that big-burst acceleration,” McShay said. “I’m not saying he’s Deebo Samuel, but he he’s kind of got that in him, where he can do a lot of things.
“Screens, quick games. He’s not afraid to work over the middle of the field. He’s only 5-11, about 185 pounds, but he transferred from Nebraska had a monster season this past year at Kentucky. The Wildcats were hoping he was going to come back, he decides to go to the NFL, and there’s going to be a team on Day 2, I believe, that is looking for a slot receiver to kind of finish out the receiving core and it’ll be a perfect fit.”
Robinson had 104 catches for 1,334 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2021. We’ll see where he ends up going in the draft in April.
