Tom Hart took an opportunity to break down the SEC quarterbacks this season, and the debate begins after Bryce Young, who is widely believed to be the best in the league, if not the country.
So how does it start at No. 2?
“I’m tempted to go (Will) Levis,” Hart said on “McElroy and Cubelic In the morning” on WJOX out of Birmingham, Alabama. “But Stetson Bennett is such a fascinating character in college football lore. Like we’re going to be talking about this guy forever, because every time somebody comes around who wins on the field, but doesn’t have the measurables, that’s going to be the comp going forward. And every small high school quarterback that’s asked to walk on is going to have a Stetson Bennett poster on their wall.”
Hart said he understands the criticisms of Bennett’s game, but you can’t argue with the results.
Hart then said Anthony Richardson is a fascinating example because of his small sample size, and Florida’s season will ride on not just his production, but also his health. But Hart also wondered where the line is drawn about keeping Richardson active in the running game, but also healthy and not taking too many hits.
