Tom Herman, the former Texas coach, has landed a new job for the 2022 season.

Herman will be an analyst for CBS Sports Network this season, according to a report by Bruce Feldman of The Athletic and FOX Sports. Herman spent last season with the Chicago Bears as an offensive analyst, but he was not retained by new coach Matt Eberflus.

Herman before the Bears had a 32-18 record with the Longhorns the previous 4 seasons, including a 4-0 mark in bowl games. In 2018, he led Texas to a 10-4 record capped by a 28-21 win over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. Two years ago the Longhorns finished 7-3 and beat Colorado 55-23 in the Alamo Bowl.

Herman, once a rising star in college football, made a name for himself at Houston, where he led the Cougars to a 22-4 record in 2 seasons as head coach. In 2015, he guided the Cougars to a 13-1 mark, including a 38-24 victory over Florida State in the Peach Bowl. Along the way, he became just the fourth head coach in NCAA history to record at least 13 wins in his first season and only the fifth coach to win the first 10 games of his career.

As the offensive coordinator at Ohio State (2012-14), he helped the Buckeyes win the national championship and was named the winner of the Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach.
