Travis Hunter had a big night at the College Football Awards, collecting the Chuck Bednarik Award for top defensive player, Biletnikoff Award for top wide receiver and Player of the Year honor, the Walter Camp Award. Fellow Heisman Trophy finalist Ashton Jeanty took home the night’s other Player of the Year honor, the Maxwell Award.

Hunter has redefined what it means to be a 2-way player. In 2024, the Colorado standout has played 1,360 snaps on offense and defense this season, an incredible display of stamina and endurance.

Hunter has thrived catching passes from Shedeur Sanders. This season, Hunter leads all Power 4 players in receiving touchdowns (14), and is second in receptions (92) and yards (1,152).

On defense, Hunter has been targeted 39 times, the third-fewest in the Power 4. Despite that low target number, Hunter has recorded 15 passes defended (4 interceptions, 11 pass breakups), tied for third in the Power 4 conferences. Hunter’s 4 interceptions are tied for fifth among Power players. Hunter has allowed an FBS leading 6 first downs.

Putting Hunter’s offensive and defensive numbers side-by-side, he has caught 92 passes and allowed just 22 catches, caught 14 touchdowns and allowed just 1 TD and has 53 first downs on offense and given up just 6.

Hunter will look to continue his hardware haul on Saturday night with the Heisman.
