Etienne’s 172-yard effort marks the third 100-yard rushing game of his young career, and his first of the 2023 season. He accounted for 6 of Florida’s 8 explosive plays, each time rushing for at least 12 yards.
The Gators have used Etienne as part of a 1-2 punch with Montrell Johnson Jr. For the season, Etienne has recorded 41 carries for 281 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Johnson has logged 30 carries for 148 yards and 3 scores.
Florida goes back to nonconference play in Week 4, hosting Charlotte on Saturday (7 p.m. ET, ESPN+/SEC Network+). In the first half, Etienne and Co. will be running behind an offensive line down 2 starters. Micah Mazzccua and Damieon George, Jr., are both suspended for the first half after they took part in the scuffle on the final play of the Tennessee game. Tight end Dante Zanders is also out for the first half.
