Trinidad Chambliss clarifies whether or not he considered LSU transfer for 2026
Trinidad Chambliss is searching for any kind of victory he can get right now at Ole Miss, whether it’s on the field or with the NCAA.
As the quarterback sensation leads the Rebels into the College Football Playoff semifinals against Miami on Thursday night, Chambliss took care of one thing on his agenda on Monday night when he revealed on social media that he will return to Oxford for the 2026 season — if, of course, he’s granted an additional year of eligibility by the NCAA.
Call that the battle within the battle for Chambliss, who is trying to lead Ole Miss to a national title for the 2025 season before he wraps his head around the 2026 season.
But Chambliss was asked during an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Tuesday about that 2026 season that he hopes to spend at Ole Miss. Specifically, Chambliss was asked if following Lane Kiffin to LSU ever entered his thought process for next fall — again, if there is a next fall for Chambliss in college football.
“I guess so, but at the end of the day, I just made the right decision and that was to stick with my gut,” Chambliss said. “Ole Miss has been good to me. I feel like I owe it to Ole Miss. I just love it here, and I love the community. That was the right choice.”
In a few days, Chambliss will try to lead his beloved program into the national championship game.
As far as next season goes, that whole waiver process deal will be decided soon, too. But if the waiver process goes the way Chambliss wants it to go, he knows exactly where he’ll be playing football in the fall of 2026, and that’s in Oxford, not Baton Rouge.
