Tua Tagovailoa has made a significant step in the NFL’s concussion protocol process, according to a report from Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.
The former Alabama quarterback will return to practice on Wednesday for the first time since suffering a concussion against the Cincinnati Bengals. While it’s expected to be limited, Tagovailoa is expected to throw.
“This is good news,” Rapoport said on “Good Morning Football.” “Now the other part of this is Tagovailoa is still not expected to play this Sunday, highly unlikely, though he may be cleared. The reason why is he has been in meetings, but not fully in meetings. He’s done some light conditioning, but hasn’t really worked back into football shape.”
Since the injury, Tagovailoa has reportedly seen 4 specialists including the top sports concussion neurologist, and top neuropsychologist.
