Tua Tagovailoa reveals the key trait that Jalen Hurts taught him at Alabama: ‘That should tell you a lot about him’

Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts will always be linked from their time together at Alabama. And while they have several things in common, Tagovailoa shared what Hurts taught him as he entered the program at Alabama.
It’s Hurts’ competitive spirit that set him apart even at an elite program that still stands out to Tagovailoa today. The quarterbacks got together on Wednesday as their teams, the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles held a joint practice during training camp. Interestingly enough, both are entering seasons in which NFL observers are waiting to see a turning point season.
“I went to Alabama, he was a hard worker in the weight room, in the classroom, on the field,” Tagovailoa said. “He had to be the first into the weight room, he had to be the first out onto the field. In sprints, he had to be first, so it really tells you how he goes about his life. It tells you about how he sees things and looks at things. Obviously he’s a competitor, never wants to be last. That should tell you a lot about him.”

Of course, the most notable game from their time at Alabama came when Hurts was famously replaced by Tagovailoa in the 2018 national championship in the second half, and Alabama went on to beat Georgia.
