Tua Tagovailoa has increasingly faced critics as his NFL career has progressed, and now that the Miami Dolphins have acquired the likes of Tyreek Hill, the heat has ramped up on the quarterback.

Tagovailoa shared his thoughts on that subject with reporters on Wednesday.

“I don’t know any of those guys,” the former Alabama star QB said. “If that’s what they have to say, good for them. It’s probably a good thing for them to say, draw people to clickbait. To me, If I can’t hear you, you’re not that important to me.”

The re-tooled Dolphins in the offseason added Hill, offensive linemen Terron Armstead and Connor Williams, running backs Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert and Sony Michel. Those moves came with Miami hiring Mike McDaniel, a longtime assistant whose most recent job was offensive coordinator in San Francisco, to be the head coach and take over for Brian Flores, who was fired after 3 seasons and no playoff appearances.

Tagovailoa understands that this pressure comes with the position.

“Pressure is always there playing this position and playing in the NFL,” he said, per the Associated Press. “I think for any professional athlete, everyone can attest that it’s an added pressure. We put that pressure on ourselves to compete every day, to be the best, to do things the right way and to do things the right way consistently.”
