Ty Simpson, Isaiah Horton connect for TD to close out dominant half vs. Wisconsin
Alabama is up 21-0 at the half against Wisconsin thanks to a brilliant performance by Ty Simpson — and a great touchdown catch by Isaiah Horton in the final minute.
With 45 seconds left in the half, Simpson faked a hand off in the red zone before throwing an inch-perfect pass to Horton for a walk-in touchdown. The ball was placed high and away from the defender — the perfect location for the 6-foot-4 receiver to go make a play on the ball.
Here’s a look at Alabama‘s final touchdown of the half:
For Horton, this is his second touchdown of the young season so far. The Miami transfer also caught a touchdown pass in Alabama’s win over Louisiana-Monroe last week.
Simpson has been excellent since the loss to Florida State. Against ULM, he completed all 17 of his pass attempts in a dominant victory. In the first half against the Badgers on Saturday, Simpson went 13-of-14 through the air. He threw touchdown passes to Horton and Germie Bernard.
That means Simpson has completed 30 of his last 31 pass attempts entering the second half. He was close to breaking Mac Jones’ program record for consecutive completions in the first half, but threw an incompletion on 4th-and-1 on Alabama’s opening drive of the game.
