Tyrann Mathieu kept up a long NFL tradition with a bet with a teammate about their college programs facing off against one another.
Mathieu, the former LSU star, made a bet with former Florida State defensive back P.J. Williams, who was selected in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. In the NFL, Williams has appeared in 78 regular season games with 30 starts, and posted career totals of 227 tackles (182 solo), 4 sacks for a loss of 27 yards and 8 interceptions.
Mathieu paid off the bet over the Florida State-LSU game, which was played in the Saints’ home stadium, by wearing FSU clothes and Williams posting it to his Instagram.
“Today we have an honorary guest member of the Nole Nation. Preciate you bro!,” Williams wrote.
Mathieu spent some time at LSU this offseason, and Mathieu spoke to current players about coming to LSU being a dream come true, and he recalled that he wasn’t the tallest, the fastest or the strongest, but it was important for him to separate himself. Signing with the Saints in the offseason was also a big deal for him, and the fans of Louisiana.
