Can we finally put this one to bed?
Last week, Urban Meyer’s comments on Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence were wrong. ESPN had debates and many others wrote headlines saying that “Urban Meyer says Trevor Lawrence is the best quarterback ever.” Those comments were debunked by Meyer himself, as he shared the following clip on his Twitter page.
It sounds like Meyer says “ever,” while he says “however.”
Trevor Lawrence is an excellent QB. For clarity, this is what I said:
“The QB at Clemson is the best QB in college football. However, what about the rest of the team?”pic.twitter.com/FMLYTH4stZ— Urban Meyer (@CoachUrbanMeyer) August 27, 2019
Anyway, FOX Sports gave Meyer a chance to make his real pick for the best quarterback of all-time. He went with his own signal caller, Tim Tebow.
“I narrowed it down to three,” Meyer explained. “I have Matt Leinart — 37-2 as a starter, Heisman Trophy winner, two national championships. We discussed this. Vince Young — 3,000 yards passing, 1,000 yards rushing. But I’m going with the left, Tim Tebow. Two national championships, a Heisman Trophy winner against the best defenses in the country in the SEC.”
