Vanderbilt adds to 2024 class with commitment from DB out of Texas

Vanderbilt has landed a big pickup for its 2024 recruiting class. Clark Lea’s staff beat out numerous Power 5 programs to land a commitment from a defensive back out from Cibolo, Texas.

Dontae Carter is the newest pledge for the Commodores. Carter shared the big news on his Twitter account.

A standout at Steele High School, Carter checks in at 6-1, 175 pounds. On the 247Sports composite rankings, Carter is rated 3-stars, the No. 62 safety, No. 105 Lone Star State recruit and No. 638 prospect overall nationally in the Class of 2024.

Eighteen schools extended scholarship offers to Carter during his recruitment. In June, Carter took visits to Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Texas Tech and Washington.

Carter is now the highest-rated defensive commitment in Vanderbilt’s 2024 class of 21 pledges. Commodores fans can get a preview of what Carter is bringing to the West End by checking out his junior season Hudl highlight reel below:
