In need of a non-conference game against a Power 5 program based on updated SEC scheduling requirements, Vanderbilt is buying out its 2018 game against UMass at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

First reported by Matt Vautor of the Daily Hampshire Gazette, the Minutemen will receive the $650,000 payout this season.

In addition to eight SEC games on the 2018 slate, the Commodores will also host Middle Tennessee. That leaves three open dates to fill to complete the 12-game regular season schedule.
