The SEC’s second to last quarterback battle is officially over.
Derek Mason announced prior to Vanderbilt’s opening game against Western Kentucky that Johnny McCrary will start at quarterback. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound sophomore threw for 985 yards, nine touchdowns and eight INTs last season while splitting time with three other quarterbacks.

Although it wasn’t announced, it was expected that McCrary would get the nod for the Commodores. It’s imperative that Vanderbilt gets off to a 1-0 start in Thursday night’s opener.
