It was reported by the Associated Press last week that first-year South Carolina coach Will Muschamp and the program was parting ways with longtime football chaplain Adrian Despres.

Muschamp took the time to address what he called “misinformation” regarding that news as some sites reported that his departure had something to do with the threat of a lawsuit from the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

He made it clear that no other entity played a part in the decision to cut ties with Despres, who had been with the school since 2000.

In the video below, Muschamp is referring to former South Carolina defensive back Andre Goodman, who currently has a role on the team’s staff with regards to personal enrichment from a spiritual standpoint.

Muschamp will not only fill Despres’ chaplain role, but more staff is expected to be added to the program.
