Officials usually hold players accountable when they pull a boneheaded move like this.

The receiver hauled in a 72-yard touchdown pass to put the Ducks head of Arizona State early in the game, but he appears to flick the ball out of his hand well before he crosses the goal line. Despite an official being mere yards away from Pharaoh, the play stood as a touchdown.

Though Pharaoh wasn’t ruled to have lost possession before scoring, he’ll probably get an earful from coaches when they review the film. Plays like this have become more and more common in college football over the past few years, one of the more head-scratching trends in the sport.
