Former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton has drawn more attention for his behavior at a press conference. Last week, he missed two expected appearances with reporters that followed an incident with a female reporter earlier this month.
On Wednesday, the Carolina Panthers quarterback was asked by a reporter about so-called chunk plays by the offense, according to a video from Steve Reed of the Associated Press.
“Is this offense, I know you had several at Detroit and New England, do you think you guys have the wherewithal to do that consistently, week in and week out?”
After a pause, Newton rolled his eyes and replied, “Next question.”
He then hesitated, and walked away from the podium.
As evidenced by coach Ron Rivera’s response to the situation, there appears to be several reasons to explain why the Carolina offense is struggling.
The Panthers have lost two straight games, including Sunday’s 17-3 defeat at Chicago.
RR defending Cam Newton, saying there's more to the offense's issues of late. "It's not time to push the panic button."
