WATCH: Dan Mullen recaps first National Signing Day as Florida’s head coach
Given the circumstances of taking over the Florida program immediately following the end of the 2017 regular season, Dan Mullen has much to be proud about considering the prospects he and his staff landed in Gainesville on National Signing Day.
By the end of the day, Florida ranked No. 14 in the nation and No. 4 in the SEC in the 2018 recruiting rankings. Following the hectic day in Gainesville, the new Gator coach met with the local media to discuss his first Florida signing class.
“As you know, signing day is always a fluid situation, but a good day for us today,” Mullen said to open his press conference. “Happy. I think our coaching staff did a great job, worked their tail off, you know, coming in and getting adjusted. Today kind of wraps up the 2018 recruiting class, but recruiting is a 24/7, 365 deal. I think I probably even spent more time on the phone with 2019s today than I did with 2018 guys. You know, it’s a process that keeps going and never ends.
“But excited about the guys that are coming to join our family. I think as I said, I think our coaches did a really good job of identifying guys that are going to fit what the Gator standard is and what our expectations are of guys coming to this program.”
