Tennessee held a light practice Saturday afternoon before Sunday’s scrimmage.
Jeremy Pruitt met with reporters following the workout, and he discussed a few things. Pruitt spoke on the young quarterbacks J.T. Shrout and Brian Maurer and how they’re developing.
“They’ve got to quit throwing the ball the other team,” Pruitt said. “They’ve got to take command of the offense when they’re out there. They’ve got to understand situational football. We’re throwing a lot at them, and both of them are doing a really good job competing every day.”
Tennessee’s head coach also mentioned his staff isn’t “anywhere close” to finding a starting offensive line.
“I don’t think we’re anywhere close to finding the first group of five,” Pruitt said. “I think we’ve got an idea of who the 10 or 11 guys there that we’re working. We’ve worked several combinations, and it’s been good for the group. … We’ve got good competition there.”
Following Pruitt’s media availability, a Brazilian reporter apologized to Pruitt for his accent, as shared by WVLT’s Caleb Noe.
