Alabama set the tone from the opening kickoff with Josh Jobe hammering the Notre Dame returner. Ian Book and the Irish ended up punting on the drive after 5 offensive plays.

Alabama received the punt and proceeded to march down the field on a 7-play, 79-yard touchdown drive that looked way too easy. Notre Dame’s defense didn’t have any sort of an answer on that drive.

Mac Jones threw a screen pass to DeVonta Smith, who took it for 26 yards virtually untouched. Smith made a quick move on the defensive back, and John Metchie helped pave the way with a downfield block.
