LSU star LB Devin White was ejected for a controversial targeting call in the second half against Mississippi State.

It was ruled that White was targeting the head and neck area of Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald, and the replay certainly brings that ruling into question. LSU fans were outraged on social media following the call, especially knowing he’s suspended for the first half against the Tide.

Following the game, Ed Orgeron was asked about the call.

“I’ve got to look at it. The call was the call,” Orgeron said. “They said they reviewed it and said it was definitely targeting. The hit on Devin, I’ve got to look at it. We can’t use our helmets. Targeting is targeting. The rule is, you can’t lead with your head.”

Unfortunately, LSU can’t appeal the call with the SEC, because there’s no such process.

Without White against Alabama, Orgeron said the Tigers will have to make some adjustments, but not before enjoying the win over Mississippi State.

“Can we enjoy this one first?,” Orgeron said. “Probably won’t have Devin for the first half. So, we’re going to have to make some adjustments for the first half.”
