Kentucky’s magical undefeated season ended in overtime with a 20-14 loss at Texas A&M.
Coach Mark Stoops said he was still proud of his team, though he admitted that QB Terry Wilson wasn’t comfortable all night.
“I wish we could have finished it off and gotten that victory, but I am proud of our team,” Stoops said.
Star RB Benny Snell, Jr. was held to 13 carries and 60 yards.
“That’s a very, very difficult environment to play right here,” Stoops said. “Having the opportunity to take it to overtime and win, you have to respect that. We came here expecting to win, and preparing to win. We’re going to rest up for a day or two, and we’re going to get back to that mentality.”
Kentucky enters an off week before playing host to Vanderbilt on Oct. 20.
“We’re going to hit the reset button and look at all things we did to get it to 5-1, and we’ll look at the things where we need to improve,” Stoops said. “Work on those issues and get back to work. I don’t anticipate any issues there with this team.”

“We just didn’t make enough plays, bottom line,” Mark Stoops said. Terry Wilson wasn’t comfortable all night. That’s not just on him.

We did not play winning football in certain areas, Stoops said. “Couldn’t be more proud of the defense."

Part of our offensive success this season is big plays on first down, but “we were ineffective” on that down, Stoops said.

Mark Stoops on kicker situation: That was right on Miles Butler’s range. He just didn’t quite there by a yard. Stoops thought about sending Chance Poore out there.

“Oh my gosh,” frustrated Stoops says under his breath as he leaves the press room.
