It’s never easy to go undefeated in SEC play. This year, Alabama and the rest of the SEC played 10 conference games instead of the usual 8. The Crimson Tide capped a perfect 10-0 regular season with a 52-3 thumping of Arkansas in Fayetteville on Saturday.

In his postgame press conference, UA coach Nick Saban reiterated one of his game week talking points that the 10-0 mark was motivation to stay focused on Arkansas and not look ahead to Florida.

“This was a tough situation for us, and I think one of the motivating factors was to win 10 SEC games in a regular season, which has never been done before,” Saban told reporters.

Here are some of the other highlights from Saban’s presser, including the latest on the injury to Christian Harris:

  • On next week’s game against Florida: “I think we have to show that we can stand up and play against a team like that.”
    • “It’s going to take a great team effort.”
  • On Mac Jones’ performance: “I thought Mac did a great job of taking what they gave us.”
  • On Jones’ almost INT: Poor decision.
  • On Christian Harris’ injury: “Hurt his shoulder. I don’t know exactly how bad it is yet. Doc said they’re going to do an MRI on it. That will determine if he can play this week or how long he’ll be out.”
  • On the passing attack: “Jonathan Metchie to be a force out there. Jahleel Billingsley has to be a force. Slade Bolden has to make plays. We can’t be one dimensional in the passing game.”
  • On RB Najee Harris’ exit: “We just took him out. It was 45-3. Took Smitty out at halftime, nothing wrong with him. There’s a lot of guys we took out.”
