South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp joined The Paul Finebaum Show on Monday to break down the Gamecocks’ upcoming game against Vanderbilt on Saturday.

Moreover, he spoke about how he and the staff handled the recent bye week — and admitted to looking ahead to opponents down the road.

One of those opponents, of course, is No. 3 Georgia, which South Carolina will face on Nov. 4.

The following comments from Muschamp were cited in a report from Dawgs247:

“We also take a peek ahead at some of the opponents down the line,” Muschamp said. “I think it is always important. We spent a bunch of time on Wofford in the offseason. They do some things offensively that we do not see throughout our entire season. It is always good to peek ahead to look and take some notes and some ideas as you get ready in game week of some things you want to get accomplished.”

“Kirby is an outstanding football coach,” Muschamp said. “He has a really good staff. You can see that they are well coached. They got their guys playing fast and physical. Defensively, those names have been there for two and three years. Those are guys, when I was the defensive coordinator at Auburn, Lorenzo Carter and all those guys were playing three years ago. So those guys have played a bunch of football. They have some elite backs that are playing extremely well. Their offensive line has really matured throughout the season. Sam Pittman has done a fantastic job with those guys up front.

“They are playing extremely well. But we are playing Vanderbilt on Saturday, and that is who we are looking forward to.”
