It has been an up-and-down day for Mississippi State on the recruiting trail. Less than 2 hours after the Bulldogs landed a commitment from top JUCO inside linebacker Navonteque Strong, a high school defender backed off his pledge to MSU.

Thomas Davis out of Valdosta, Georgia Lowndes High School announced on his Twitter account he is reopening his recruitment. Now, a pair of 247Sports insiders have logged “high-confidence” Crystal Ball predictions that Davis’ next pledge will be with the Miami Hurricanes.

The Canes offered Davis on May 18, a month after his April 18th Mississippi State commitment. Other programs to extend offers after Davis’ pledge to MSU are South Carolina (April 30) and Indiana (May 13).

Listed at over 6-2 and 223 pounds, Davis is currently rated the No. 50 weak-side defensive end, No. 72 Georgia product and No. 836 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite. He has 12 scholarship offers at this time.
