Xavier Worthy NFL Draft odds: Exciting favorite emerges for Texas WR

Xavier Worthy is generating considerable NFL Draft buzz after posting a record-breaking 40-yard dash time of 4.21.
Worthy recently revealed that he has interviewed with a majority of teams (23-24). He rightfully wants to be known as more than just a speedster who plays football. Worthy’s speed, though, will likely be what separates him from the pack in a wide receiver class deep with talented players who put up impressive numbers.
DraftKings recently posted odds for which team will draft Worthy. Here are the top 5 landing spots for the Texas wide receiver:
- Kansas City Chiefs: +350
- Buffalo Bills: +800
- Arizona Cardinals: +900
- Carolina Panthers: +1000
- Dallas Cowboys: +1200
Kansas City is the heavy favorite, with +350 translating to 7:2. Buffalo is a distant second at 8:1 odds (+800). While DraftKings’ oddsmakers see Dallas as the fifth-most likely, Worthy in Big D isn’t looking too likely at 12:1 (+1200).

While a number of Longhorn fans might selfishly hope to see Worthy stay in the Lone Star State, it’s hard to argue there is a better fit for Worthy than KC.
Former ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay recently predicted the Chiefs will draft Worthy during an appearance on ‘The Ryen Russillo Podcast.’ As word gets around, those +350 odds might be impacted for those wanting to get in on the action.
Worthy to KC would be a perfect fit for Chiefs’ needs
It would be unfair to put 5-time first-team All-Pro expectations on Worthy before his pro career even begins, but get ready for Tyreek Hill comparisons if Worthy lands with the Chiefs.
For 4 seasons (2018-21), football fans everywhere watched Hill and Patrick Mahomes become one of the NFL’s premiere QB/WR combos as the Chiefs threw the ball around the yard. Playing with Mahomes, Hill averaged career-highs of 15 receiving touchdowns in 2020 and 17 yards per reception in 2018.
Tyreek Hill is still Tyreek Hill, putting up career numbers in two seasons with the Miami Dolphins since leaving Kansas City. The Chiefs, meanwhile, are back-to-back Super Bowl champions… with wide receiver issues?
Kansas City is making it work, but Hill’s speed as a deep threat for Mahomes has been missed. Many wide receiver issues have been masked by Travis Kelce, but the Chiefs would still benefit greatly from adding a speedy playmaker to the WR room.
With Marquez Valdes-Scantling released and the Kadarius Toney acquisition not working out, the Chiefs need a complementary wideout for the emerging Rashee Rice. Worthy looks like the perfect fit for a team needing a late first-round wide receiver.
