Former Tennessee star Yves Pons didn’t hear his name called in the 2021 NBA Draft last month.
But, the undrafted free agent landed with the Memphis Grizzlies during the Utah Summer League, and he played well enough to earn himself a contract.
On Tuesday, the Grizzlies posted that they’d signed the former Vol as a member of their squad for the 2021-22 season:

That contract will likely be a 2-way deal, which would allow Pons to play both for the Grizzlies and the Grizzlies’ G League affiliate.
On Aug. 3, Pons scored 12 points and had 2 blocks, 1 rebound and 1 assist off the bench in a 104-65 win over the Jazz Blue team. On Aug. 4, against the Jazz White squad, Pons had 9 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in a 94-75 loss. On Aug. 6, he had 2 rebounds and 2 blocks off the bench in an 82-77 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
We’ll see if he heads to Las Vegas to help the Grizzlies in the Vegas Summer League next.
