The Cleveland Browns are reportedly making a change at quarterback following an 1-3 start to the 2025 season.
According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zentiz, rookie Dillon Gabriel is expected to take over for Joe Flacco this weekend. Flacco had his worst game of the season on Sunday as he completed under 50% of his passes and threw 2 interceptions in a blowout loss to the Detroit Lions.
As the Browns prepare to face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5, they’ll reportedly be giving Gabriel a shot.
Gabriel is in his rookie season and was a third-round pick by the Browns this past April. If he does get the start, he’d have beaten out fellow rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders for the job. Gabriel and Sanders have been competing for reps since the preseason.
Gabriel played in 2 preseason games and finished 25-of-37 for 272 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
This is a big opportunity for the former Oklahoma and Oregon star to establish himself as an NFL-caliber quarterback. So far during the regular season, Gabriel has thrown 4 passes and has completed 3 of them for 19 yards and 1 touchdown.
The Browns and Vikings are set to face off in London on Sunday morning. Kickoff is at 9:30 p.m. ET.
