Jayden Daniels and Tua Tagovailoa are two of the elite former SEC football stars from the modern era. Now, those star quarterbacks are set to face off in a marquee and historic NFL game this season.
On Tuesday, the NFL set its slate of international contests with 7 matchups played outside of the US. It includes 3 games in London, a game in Dublin, Ireland, one in Sao Paulo, Brazil, another in Berlin, Germany, and one in Madrid, Spain.
That matchup in Madrid will be the NFL’s first-ever game in Spain, and it will pit Daniels’ Washington Commanders against Tagovailoa’s Miami Dolphins. The game is set for Sunday, Nov. 16, with a 9:30 am ET kickoff.

Daniels was an electric performer during his time at LSU, going on to capture the 2023 Heisman Trophy for the Tigers. After landing with the Commanders as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, he would become the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year while leading Washington to a playoff appearance in his first season.
Tagovailoa was a star for Nick Saban across 3 seasons for Alabama. The southpaw would become the 2018 SEC Offensive Player of the Year and a 2nd-place Heisman Trophy finish before battling injuries throughout his junior season.
After becoming the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Tagovailoa really began to flourish in his 3rd NFL season after the Dolphins hired head coach Mike McDaniel. However, Tagovailoa is coming off a season where he was limited to just 11 games played.
Now, the former SEC stars will get their first head-to-head matchup on the big stage.
