Amazon debuted its “Thursday Night Football” package with a Week 2 AFC West matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs came away with a 27-24 win against Justin Herbert and the Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium. But Amazon was looking for a different number: overall views and signups for its Prime Video service.

While we will have to wait for the former, the latter is good news for the company. According to The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand, a memo sent by Jay Marine, the company’s vice president of sports programming for Prime Video, stated that the service had registered “the most sign-ups in the history of Amazon”. Marchand later noted that Prime Video had seen its “most US sign-ups in a three hour window“.

We’ll have to wait and see how that translates into viewing numbers, but it appears that the news may be good there too:

Amazon’s hope now is to sustain a high level of viewership throughout the season. That being said, things seem to be off to a nice start.
